The trainee who successfully completes training requirements established by the Air Traffic Organization (ATO), demonstrates the aptitude and recommended and approved by Air Traffic Organization (ATO) and the facility manager for conversion to the 2152 Air Traffic Control Specialist Trainee will be assign to initial training track at the FAA Academy. While at the facility, duties performed either in a classroom environment or under the direct supervision of the facility’s Air Traffic Manger or their designee who observe the work on a continuing basis to ensure the proper performance of tasks and to provide feedback in basic controller skills. Trainee will be given overview on the Basics of Air Traffic, En Route or Terminal facility training, and may be ask to assist staff in the specialized areas including the facility training department, flight data clearance delivery and airspace and procedures Skills training related to the work of air traffic control specialists in the target option, i.e., at air traffic control terminal facilities and air route traffic control centers. Receives training and acquires competence in the performance of duties at the next higher level. This includes:Ī complete occupational indoctrination (highlights of Federal employment, familiarization with organizational structure and functions, aircraft, the air traffic control system, and a comprehensive view of the aviation industry) Ĭlassroom instruction and workshop exercises related but not limited to: air traffic rules airport traffic control communications operating procedures principles of flight air navigation aids to air navigation aviation weather terrain and navigational aids.
